Scotland – Destination Wedding

A Flying Fairytale

It is always a pleasure when a client calls and says, ‘I have been waiting for an excuse to use you again, this time it’s for my wedding!’. Safe to say we immediately agreed, 7 months to go and plans were afoot.

Diana grew up in beautiful Royal Deeside and chose Ballogie House Estate for the location of the wedding.  The plans grew and grew as more family and friends were able to gather for this magical celebration in Scotland.

Guests flew from far and wide for the celebrations, quite fittingly as Diana & Al met through their love of gliding and flying.  Never before have we met so many people who spoke so casually and passionately about flying as an afternoon activity.

The wedding week was upon us. Our team travelled by road and air, gathering to host the family on the lead up to the wedding. Two families united to cherish the lead up to this special day.

The family enjoy daily meals within the house, nourishing them all ahead of their itinerary each day. Fishing, mountain biking, beach walks, horse trekking, gliding as well as many foraging missions all in store.  Key ingredients chosen by Diana & Al on their wedding menu were beautiful golden chanterelles and ‘blaeberries’ (Scottish wild blueberries). The family and locals lovingly handpicked these local delicacies throughout the week. These touches added another level of intimacy to the culinary experience and showed off the gastronomical beauty of Nature’s early Autumn bounty.

‘Picnic birthday lunch at the fishing lodge today?’ The waiting team happily agreed. Off they went to meet and serve this special lunch at the fishing lodge on the Estate right alongside the River Dee.  Peaceful moments enjoyed, birthday lunch was shared – overall a great success, unfortunately not so much luck on the fishing front.

Autumnal Beauty

The pinnacle day arrived – early morning moments as the florist team weaved their magic. Capturing the array of autumnal beauty in the flower meadows around the Ceremony space and marquee. Final deliveries and tending to the beautiful local produce – as the kitchen team prepared for the day. Service team focusing on the final touches in the marquee tying together all of the beautiful details and elements to create a stunning Autumnal scene.

The sun shone for Diana & Al all day, ‘a perfect day for flying’ was muttered many a time, but this day was for feet firmly on solid ground. A day for connection, ceilidh dancing, celebration and sharing and making memories.  It truly was a special occasion!
